Wednesday, December 21, 2016 – Tampa to Las Vegas
Our trip started out with an uneventful flight from Tampa to Las Vegas. Everyone was hungry when we arrived, so once we had our luggage and rental car it was straight to In-N-Out. This is quite a habit for us whenever we travel to California, Nevada, or anywhere there are In-N-Outs. I’m making myself hungry just writing this. Mmmm…Double Double Animal Style…

With bellies full of burgers and fries, it was time to start heading north. We would be coming back to Vegas for a few days at the end of this trip, so we booked a hotel on the north of the city, positioning ourselves for an easy trip to our destination in Utah on Thursday. But the kids had never been to Las Vegas so we gave them a taste of what we would experience in a week and a half when we came back. We drove The Strip to downtown and stopped there to walk around Fremont Street. We saw the lights and glitz of the Fremont Street Experience, the typical array of street performers, and the giant fire breathing mantis at the Downtown Container Park. It was a great introduction to Vegas for the kids and a good send off to a week and a half of National Park exploration.
