Two Planes in One Day!

July 5, 2002 – Tampa, FL to Salt Lake City, UT

In July of 2002 we set out on our biggest adventure yet – a two week trip “out west” to Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. Delaney was 7 and Aaron was 3 and it was a grand adventure. Here is the first day:

I normally hate flight connections, but to the kids it was a great adventure. TWO airplanes in one day! We changed planes in St. Louis and Delaney, Aaron, and I explored the terminal and Chrissy watched our bags while we were waiting for the flight to Salt Lake. When we got to Salt Lake there was even more adventure – driving a mini-van that wasn’t ours! We got to the Fairfield Inn in Layton, UT that night and there was a Cracker Barrel right next door. We were not yet to our destination of Jackson Hole and after a day of traveling it did not involve getting back in a car, so we allowed ourselves an exception to the Kuralt no-chain-restaurant rule. As we would learn over the next few days, stuff you can walk to after a long day in a car or plane is great!

  1. I didn’t realize Charles Kuralt had a no-chain restaurant rule, but it sounds like him. Of course, that rule is weaker than the ‘within walking distance’ rule. Don’t forget the ‘home cooking’ rule, too.
